A Father’s Plea: Justice, Freedom, and the Lives of Two Children in Danger

To World Leaders, International Media, and Human Rights Advocates:

I am Yusuf İnan, a journalist and writer with 24 years of dedicated service to truth and the freedom of expression. Over my career, I have penned tens of thousands of articles and reports, amplifying the voices of the voiceless and standing for justice. Today, I find myself as one of those voices. This time, I am writing not only as a journalist but as a father fighting for the lives and safety of his daughters, Elif and Ayşe.

For seven years, I have been unjustly separated from my children due to a travel ban that defies justice and humanity. For the past three years, Elif and Ayşe have faced an even greater threat—living amidst the horrors of war in Ukraine. Today, I appeal to the conscience of the global community, world leaders, and especially President Donald Trump, to help end this ongoing tragedy.

The Human Rights Crisis in Ukraine

Elif and Ayşe live in Ukraine, a country torn apart by relentless war.

  • Three years of war: My daughters have endured the daily terror of Russian missile attacks and airstrikes.
  • Constant danger: Every day, their lives are at risk as bombs fall around them.

The international community must act to protect these innocent children who are caught in the crossfire of a conflict they cannot comprehend.

Journalism, Freedom, and Justice Under Threat

As a journalist and writer, I have always believed in the power of words to bring about change. I have dedicated my life to uncovering truths and holding power to account. Yet today, I find myself silenced by a system that refuses to uphold the very principles I have defended:

  • Freedom of expression: The right to speak the truth, to criticize, and to advocate for justice without fear of retribution.
  • Human rights: The fundamental right of a father to be with his children.

This situation is not just a personal tragedy—it is an affront to the values of justice, human dignity, and freedom that the world claims to uphold.

A Direct Call to President Donald Trump

President Trump, as a leader who has often spoken about protecting families and fighting for justice, I appeal to you personally. Use your influence to bring attention to this case and advocate for the immediate reunification of my family.

Your voice can make a difference in ensuring that two innocent children are removed from a war zone and allowed to live in safety and dignity.

To the Global Community

  • United Nations, European Court of Human Rights, and OSCE: Act urgently to ensure the safety of Elif and Ayşe. Protect their fundamental rights to life, safety, and family unity.
  • Journalists and Writers: Use your platforms to amplify this story. Defend the principles of justice, freedom of expression, and human rights.
  • World Leaders: Stand for the children of Ukraine and all children caught in conflict zones. Let Elif and Ayşe's plight remind us of the collective responsibility we share.

A Global Responsibility

This case is emblematic of the broader struggles faced by families in war zones.

  • Justice delayed is justice denied: After seven years, my legal battle has yielded no resolution.
  • A moral obligation: The world cannot stand idly by while innocent children remain targets of war and victims of separation.

A Call for Action

  1. Immediate Evacuation: Secure the safe removal of Elif and Ayşe from Ukraine.
  2. Reunification: Lift the travel ban and allow me to be with my children.
  3. Justice Reform: Address the systemic delays and failures in upholding basic human rights.

A Journalist’s Hope for Change

As a father, I want to hold my daughters again. As a journalist, I believe in the power of the truth to inspire change. This letter is both a plea and a call to action. The principles of freedom, justice, and human dignity demand nothing less.

Let Elif and Ayşe’s story remind us of the immense power we hold to change lives and build a better world. Let their plight ignite a global movement for justice, family unity, and the protection of children in conflict zones.

Sincerely,
Yusuf İnan
