The Istanbul Financial Center (IFC) and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) have engaged in collaboration concerning information technologies within the finance sector. The protocol was signed on Friday, December 29, 2023, by IFC General Manager Ahmet İhsan Erdem and ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu.

The Istanbul Financial Center, a visionary project in Turkey, has initiated collaboration with Istanbul Technical University for information technology and in-depth analysis endeavors. The protocol signing ceremony at IFC was attended by IFC General Manager Ahmet İhsan Erdem and Istanbul Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu.

Under the signed protocol, the aim is to combine ITU's academic knowledge and research competency with Istanbul Financial Center's sectoral expertise to conduct in-depth market analyses in financial technology. These analyses, prepared by ITU academicians, will encompass developments, current status, and future trends in information technologies within the finance sector. Every 3-4 months, these analyses will be made available to the public free of charge by the Istanbul Financial Center.

Moreover, the protocol will offer ITU students the opportunity to intern at the Istanbul Financial Center. The Istanbul Financial Center will strive to provide internships and junior engineering opportunities for a specified number of ITU students. This initiative aims to support the cultivation of IT experts in Turkey, improve understanding of sectoral needs, and foster solution-oriented approaches.

Erdem: "Our main goal is to establish a multidimensional financial services ecosystem."

During the protocol signing ceremony, Istanbul Financial Center General Manager Ahmet İhsan Erdem provided insights into the center's objectives and activities. Emphasizing their confident strides towards becoming a global financial center, Erdem stated, "As the Istanbul Financial Center, our main goal is to create a multidimensional financial services, international trade, and energy ecosystem. To achieve this main goal, I'd like to highlight three fundamental objectives. Firstly, we focus on contributing to the sustainable growth of the Turkish economy. Secondly, we highly value the deepening of our financial markets and products. Additionally, we consider offering new business and investment opportunities to all participants of the IFC as a crucial objective. To reach these goals, we will collaborate with our stakeholders to expand the existing pie and ensure that Turkey secures a larger share."

Erdem: "At IFC, we aim to encourage reverse brain drain."

Highlighting the significance of collaboration with Istanbul Technical University, Istanbul Financial Center General Manager Ahmet İhsan Erdem noted, "The IFC has evolved into an international trade center. To further enhance our country's most valuable asset, which is our qualified human resources, various advantages have been identified for employing international experienced personnel at IFC. The main aim of this incentive is to encourage reverse brain drain and attract skilled international labor to our country. We are aware of the critical role that information technologies play in the finance sector. Therefore, we are delighted to collaborate with Istanbul Technical University, one of the country's leading academic institutions in this field. This protocol will enhance both our sector and our country's competitiveness in information technologies, enabling us to generate innovative and value-added solutions. Moreover, we place importance on offering ITU students internship and junior engineering opportunities to contribute skilled human resources to our sector. I extend my gratitude to the ITU administration and academicians, and I wish this protocol to be fruitful."
